Japanese Firm Metaplanet Acquires 1,111 Bitcoin Worth $118M

Metaplanet surpassed Hut8 to become the eighth-largest firm in terms of Bitcoin holdings on Monday, June 23, adding 1,111 Bitcoins to its total holdings and elevating it to 11,111 BTC. The company’s 2025 year-to-date (YTD) Bitcoin yield is 306.7%, which is rather excellent.

Due to the rising confrontation between Iran and Israel, Bitcoin fell below $100,000 on Sunday, creating an opportunity to purchase the dip. The shares of the Japanese company is down 4% today due to increasing geopolitical concerns, even if Bitcoin was purchased today.

Banking on Bitcoin

Metaplanet has unveiled its latest acquisition: 1,111 Bitcoin (BTC) valued at about $118.2 million. As of June 23, 2025, the company’s total Bitcoin holdings reach 11,111 thanks to this prudent buy. At an average price of $95,869 per BTC, the total cost of its Bitcoin acquisitions over the last year has risen to over $1.07 billion.

Metaplanet, a Japanese corporation, has been purchasing Bitcoins at an unprecedented rate since the beginning of 2025, when they had just over 1,000 BTC. Last week, they surpassed the 10,000 BTC milestone. Aiming to acquire 1% of the entire BTC supply, or 210,000 BTC, by the end of 2027, the corporation has already revealed its ambitious $5.4 billion fundraising.

This Japanese company just finished the 20th–22nd Series of Stock Acquisition Rights with EVO FUND, which is why they bought Bitcoin today. The company quickly revealed its open-market Bitcoin acquisitions after receiving JPY 558,700,000 from the fund.
